Professor Sarah Heath, Ph.D, associate professor of History at IU Kokomo, will discuss racism in advertising (Aunt Jemima and "Mammy" images), popular "science" that suggested blacks and immigrants were inferior, and the prevalence of the KKK in the early 20th century.
This is tie-in with To Kill a Mockingbird, the winner of Hamilton County Reads 2011.
